Father arrested for fraudulent video of daughter alleging child abuse

AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday spotted a video circulating on social media depicting a child standing near a cemetery who was speaking about abuse she faced after the death of her mother, the PSD spokesperson said on Tuesday.

After investigating the video, PSD personnel identified the location from the video as well as the child's house, and arrested her father, the spokesperson was quoted as saying in a PSD statement. The child was found in good condition, alongside her mother, who is alive.

The father confessed to filming his child speaking on a false sad scenario to boost the number of video views. The Family Protection Administration is now investigating the case to refer the father to court and will conduct a social health check on the child for her protection and to ensure no repeats of such situations.
