Fakhoury receives congressional delegation

AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury on Wednesday met US Representative Michael Conaway (R-Texas) and an accompanying delegation, and briefed them on the economic challenges facing the Kingdom.

Fakhoury voiced the government’s appreciation of US assistance that alleviates financial burdens resulting from hosting thousands of Syrians, according to a ministry statement.

Total US economic assistance to Jordan in 2016 will reach some $812 million, he added. Conaway, who is the chairman of the agriculture committee at the US House of Representatives, and the delegates praised the Kingdom’s reform and development programmes.
