AQABA — Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Chief Commissioner Kamel Mahadin on Thursday thanked the EU for supporting Aqaba, especially in implementing energy, water and environment projects.

During a meeting with EU Ambassador to Jordan Joanna Wronecka, Mahadin called on the European Union to assist ASEZA in establishing training centres in the Qweirah and Wadi Araba regions in Aqaba to rehabilitate and train young people seeking jobs in the environment and tourism sectors.

Europeans, he said, constitute around 60 per cent of the total number of tourists visiting the Kingdom’s sole port city.
