Environment Ministry opens recycling plant for black plastic mulch in Karak

AMMAN — Environment Minister Nabil Masarweh on Thursday attended the opening of a recycling plant for black plastic mulch at Hussein Bin Abdullah II Industrial City in Karak.

Masarweh, during the ceremony attended by Canadian Ambassador Donica Pottie, highlighted the ministry’s efforts to improve Karak’s environment, particularly Ghor Al Safi, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Citing the ministry’s figures, the minister said that 90 per cent of livestock deaths in the region occur due to eating plastic waste. The minister expressed appreciation of Canada and Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) for financing the project.

The Canadian envoy expressed hopes that the project would foster sustainable development by increasing productivity and bridging the gaps in the supply chain.
