Engineering sector needs public, private support — association

AMMAN — The Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) on Tuesday said the sector needs the support of public and private sectors to enhance its role in the development process.

The JEA, in a report it referred to the government, attributed the weak performance of the sector to low investment figures.

JEA President Abdullah Obeidat said Jordan faces two major challenges in the development process: high unemployment rates — which stood at more than 12 per cent in the first quarter of 2014 — and the need to train the workforce, according to a JEA statement sent to The Jordan Times.
