AMMAN — Minister of Energy Hala Zawati on Thursday checked on the progress of rehabilitation work at Hamzah Oil Field in Al Azraq. Production at the oil field, which began in 1984, went down from 400 barrels per day to only 20 barrels, according to a ministry statement.
The minister said that rehabilitation work includes three phases that aim to raise production to 500 barrels per day, noting that only the first stage, which covered upgrading the oil field's infrastructure, has been finished so far.
She added that within one month, work will enter the second phase, which includes increasing the productive capacity for four smaller fields within the main field. The third phase, to be implemented next year, will involve digging new wells, the minister said.
