AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission on Sunday denied allegations that there has been an increase in citizens' electricity bills.
The commission noted that the power grid in January reached its maximum capacity at 3,510 megawatts due to the significant drop in temperatures for relatively long periods of time, which caused citizens to use more electricity for heating purposes, according to a commission statement.
The commission said that if a subscriber has doubts concerning their consumption rates, they can visit the electricity distribution company in their respective areas.
The commission implements intensive campaigns at electricity distribution companies to ensure they take readings on a regular basis, the statement said, noting that the commission reviews millions of bills from various sectors.
