AMMAN — Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani said that the electronic draw for selecting candidates for the 2026 national service programme will take place at 5pm on Monday, December 8.
The draw will be broadcast live on local television channels to ensure full transparency, according to a ministry statement.
Momani, who is also the government spokesperson, urged young Jordanians born in 2007 and their families to follow official channels for updates and instructions regarding the draw.
He added that the official platform for the national service programme, including the process to confirm eligibility, will be announced immediately after the electronic draw.
Highlighting the benefits of the programme, Momani said it provides Jordanian youth with valuable experience, helping them build confidence and a sense of pride in contributing to their country.
The National Service Programme will select 6,000 young men each year, divided into three phases of 2,000 conscripts each.
University students assigned to the programme will retain their places at their institutions, ensuring that participation does not disrupt academic progress.
The programme will run for three months, combining military training with a structured theoretical curriculum under the National Service and Reserve Service framework.
The initiative builds on Crown Prince Hussein’s August announcement regarding the reactivation of the National Service Programme, described as a national step to prepare and qualify young Jordanians while fostering a sense of confidence, responsibility, and pride in serving their country.
