By JT - Jan 08,2023 - Last updated at Jan 08,2023

AMMAN —  Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) Ziad Saaida on Sunday said that the maximum electricity load in the Kingdom during the current weather conditions reached 3,299 megawatts on Friday, a figure 10 per cent higher than the normal rate at this time of year.

The authority urged electricity companies to take the necessary measures to fulfil electricity demand, and to deal immediately with any complaints.  Saaida stressed the importance of rationalising electricity consumption in order to avoid high energy loads, and urged the public to use the least expensive heating methods. He called on the public to report any malfunctions through the commission's monitoring and emergency centre, which works around the clock, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
