Effective political parties necessary to address vote-buying — minister

AMMAN – Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State Musa Maaytah on Monday said the government will not be able to confront vote-buying in the upcoming elections without effective political parties with clear programmes and objectives, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

At a meeting with a coalition of nationalist and leftist parties, Maaytah added that the upcoming election, slated for September 20, is an important milestone in the political reform process and the history of the country, expressing hope for a primary role for political parties.
