AMMAN — Education Malaysia Jordan, in collaboration with Al Balqa Applied University, Nessa'a for Cultural Development Association (Namaa) and Malaysia-based NGO MyFundAction, organised a workshop aimed at promoting ethical volunteering among Malaysian students in Jordan.

The workshop focused on imparting crucial insights into the ethics of engaging in social work initiatives involving refugees. The event was part of an ongoing effort to encourage compassionate and responsible volunteering efforts among the Malaysian student community.

The one-day workshop, held at Al Balqa Applied University brought together Malaysian and Jordanian students. This diverse gathering was orchestrated to foster cross-cultural collaboration and provide a platform for future partnerships in social projects to aid refugees and migrants, according to a statement from the Malaysian embassy in Amman.

The Minister Counsellor of Education at the Embassy of Malaysia in Jordan, Associate Professor Radzuwan Abu Rashid, said: “Jordan's substantial migrant and refugee population presents a unique opportunity for Malaysian students to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of these vulnerable individuals. The workshop is hoped to provide students with essential skills and a chance to immerse themselves in the local context, fostering global citizenship and empathy”.

The workshop was delivered by Wafa Al Amaireh, an expert in social research, monitoring and evaluation, and was officiated by Professor Naji Al Saayda, the Head of the Princess Alia Faculty at Al Balqa Applied University.

Malaysia’s Ambassador to Jordan Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman expressed his support for Malaysian students' participation in such initiatives. He emphasised that expanding one's horizons beyond the confines of the classroom equips students with real-world experiences that prepare them to be well-rounded global citizens.
