IRBID — The Bani Obeid District Education Directorate in Irbid has recorded a decrease in the percentage of school dropouts which now stands at 4 per cent, Fawaz Tamimi, the education director at the district, said Thursday.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Sarih Youth Centre, Tamimi said the education directorate has signed a partnership contract with World Vision organisation to open three centres to offer students between the ages of 6 and 12 maths, Arabic and English classes.
He added that a similar contract was signed with Questscope for a programme to bring dropouts back into studying and give them a certificate equivalent to 10th grade.
