AMMAN — Dutch Ambassador for Youth, Education and Work Jurriaan Middelhoff on Thursday visited a practical training venue of the agricultural training programme at Balqa Applied University (BAU) implemented under the "Youth-JO: Level UP!" project, which aims to endow youth with entrepreneurial skills to be employed in Jordan’s agriculture and tourism sectors.

The ambassador attended part of the training activities and participated in an interactive session with executors of the programme and young people who shared their training experiments and future aspirations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Launched in 2022, the aim of this project is to increase the economic participation of 1,500 youths in Jordan through upskilling, job placements and developing their entrepreneurial capabilities.

Middelhoff said that the Netherlands puts the youth at the centre of development cooperation policies, and invests in their education, working to better prepare them for the “entrepreneurial world” of the present and future.

Walid Al Tarawneh, president and CEO of Partners for Good, which implements the project, said that the project is not merely limited to increasing the skills of the youth and enhancing their employment opportunities, but also seeks to boost entrepreneurial and life skills of young people in two foremost sectors in the Kingdom: Tourism and agriculture.

In addition to the technical and vocational training that young people receive, the training is complemented by a strong foundation programme and personal skills that equip them with life and professional skills that can expand their prospects for economic participation.
