AMMAN — Jordan will continue to exert all efforts to support the Palestinians’ legitimate rights, Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi said on Thursday, stressing the Kingdom’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause.
Addressing the 32nd conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) currently underway in Cairo, Dughmi said: “Jordan is actively pursuing pan-Arab solidarity to address challenges and realise much-needed comprehensive development throughout the region,” the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The “Zionist entity” is seen as prime danger to the region, which pushed it to violence, threatening reigonal and international peace, he said, noting that decades of peace negotiations have brought nothing but further oppression, racial discrimination and violation of rights.
He also called for scaling up efforts to end the Syrian, Libyan and Yemeni crises and urged support for Iraq's reconstruction.
Also on Thursday, on the sidelines of the conference, Dughmi met Kuwait National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanim, over bilateral parliamentary ties and common Arab issues.
The two sides stressed the deep-rooted relations between both countries, expressing keenness on advancing partnerships.
They also stressed that Jordan and Kuwait “see eye to eye” on regional issues.
