AMMAN — The Lower House on Sunday referred the draft local administration law to its joint legal and administrative committee. The draft law was prompted by the creation of the Ministry of Local Administration to enhance public participation in decision-making and to better apply decentralisation on the governorate level.
The decision came during a Lower House session headed by Speaker Atef Tarawneh in the presence of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz. The session was held to discuss a law regulating insurance business, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The draft local administration law reinforces integration between governorate and municipal councils by defining the powers and tasks of each council in a manner that enhances development and investment within its authority.
