Domestic revenues stood at JD2.738b in first 4 months of 2022 — Finance Ministry

AMMAN — Domestic revenues witnessed a rise of JD172.3 million during the first four months of 2022, totalling JD2.738 billion, compared with JD2.565 billion during the same period in 2021, the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday.

In a Finance Ministry statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry’s figures showed that tax collections went up by JD202.2 million, while non-tax revenues dropped by JD29.9 million.

Income tax revenues increased by JD176.9 million, thanks to tax compliance, the ministry said.

The ministry added that public expenditures went up by JD137.2 million during the first four months and reached JD3.101 billion, compared with JD2.964 billion during the same period of last year, according to the ministry’s data.

The increase was driven by the government's spending on social protection which increased by JD40.8 million.

Jordan’s total public debt, after excluding the loans owed to the Social Security Investment Fund reached 88.6 per cent of the Kingdom’s estimated GDP by the end of April, compared with 89.5 per cent during the same period of 2021.
