AMMAN — Jerash Public Works Director Akram Khasawneh on Thursday announced that traffic on the road connecting Amman and Irbid can now continue through a detour opened after the landslide in the Zarqa River area, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Motorists can now head from Jerash towards Amman through the new detour, while the lane where cars previously headed to Amman is now open to motorists coming from Amman to Jerash and other northern governorates, Khasawneh said.
Police officers are available on the spot to regulate traffic, the official said. A landslide on the road connecting Amman and Irbid on Tuesday had resulted in the closure of the highway connecting the northern and central governorates.
