Deputising for King, Prince Mired attends Special Olympics opening in Berlin

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HH Prince Mired, the chief chamberlain, participated in the opening ceremony of the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games, hosted in Berlin on Saturday. 

The Olympics, which runs until June 26, sees the participation of more than 7,000 athletes from 178 countries competing in 24 Olympic sports, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Jordan's players compete in seven games including athletics, roller skiing, bocce, weightlifting, bowling, badminton and swimming. 

On the margins of the Games, Prince Mired, in his capacity as president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, participated in the Global Forum for Inclusion in Berlin. 

The prince's participation in the event focused on highlighting the Kingdom's top achievements in the field of persons with disabilities and His Majesty's aspirations to achieve further success in this area.
