AMMAN — Delivery service businesses in the Kingdom are taking a more holistic approach amid summertime to increase profitability, according to stakeholders.

Several local delivery businesses told The Jordan Times, that to improve their profitability they offer their customers personalised delivery services, some through their online website and others by offering customers the option to order through their social media pages.

Ammar Khalaf, director of a delivery business, said that the company offers its services to online retailers, individual customers, and local businesses.

“Since the beginning of June, delivery orders have grown by at least 45 per cent,” he told The Jordan Times, adding that the delivery market locally and globally is growing due to changing consumer habits and increased accessibility to Internet services, as well as the sheer convenience of delivery services.

In addition, with increased summer events, pop-ups, and other activities, there is an apparent growth in demand for delivery services, he concluded.

Omar Awwad, president of the Jordan Association for Restaurants and Sweet Shops Owners, said that food deliveries have significantly increased in the last two months, especially with expatriates and tourists visiting the country.

He also said that “the rising popularity of delivery services cannot be denied, and is a key revenue stream to almost all restaurants”.
