AMMAN — The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Amman held a celebration on Thursday on the occasion of the Czech National Day, annually celebrated on October 27. During the ceremony, held at the Sheraton Hotel Amman, Czech Ambassador Josef Koutsky delivered a speech in which he stressed the depth of the historical relations between Jordan and the Czech Republic, and the aspiration to strengthen them in the future in several areas of cooperation that unites the two countries.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth Mohammad Nabulsi and a number of officials, diplomats, military personnel, journalists, and guests of the embassy, according to a statement from the Czech embassy.

Commemorating the 58th Anniversary of the Czech-Jordan diplomatic relations, Koutsky highlighted the presidency of the Czech Republic of the European Council and the most important programmes and development projects. Such humanitarian assistance programmes include the Czech humanitarian medical programme “MEDEVAC”, which has been running in Jordan since 2014, and AID IN PLACE programme, which helps Syrian refugees in Jordan.  Other recent projects include the opening of the Syrian Refugees Affairs Training Centre inside the Syrian Refugees Affairs Directorate (SRAD), Women's Training Center in the Ghabawi area in Zarqa Governorate — established in cooperation between the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army and NATO — with the support of two main donor countries, the Czech Republic and Norway.

With the cooperation of the Ministry of Health, the Czech government provided a renovated medical clinic at the King Hussein Bridge crossing, The Al Jisr Medical Clinic. The Czech government also established the COVID-19 monitoring centre at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health to work on coordinating and reporting on border crossings.

Koutsky pointed the ability to enhance relations and cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the economic and trade domains, highlighting the importance of organising more economic forums and exchanging mutual visits, including participation in SONEX/JIMEX, SOFEX, MEFED and international conferences held in Jordan.

He added that number of specialised Jordanian economic bodies and institutions attended the reception, which included a variety of Czech products like the Bohemian crystal, Marlenka Honey Cakes, Budvar Beer and Skoda Vehicles.ation is too long to be save
