Customs centre foils attempt to smuggle falcons

AMMAN — Personnel at Al Omari Customs Centre have foiled an attempt to smuggle four falcons into the Kingdom while searching a vehicle coming from an Arab neighbouring country, Centre Director Col.
Salem Shloul said on Wednesday. Shloul said that the falcons were hidden in a “secret” place in the vehicle, which was especially designed for this purpose, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He added that the seized falcons were referred to the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature after receiving customs fines of JD18,000.
