Customs agents seize smuggled cigarettes

AMMAN — Jordan Customs Department (JCD) personnel in Aqaba have foiled an attempt to smuggle 900 cartons of cigarettes, the JCD said Monday.

The cigarettes were seized pending the payment of fines which are around JD1 million.

At the Karameh customs checkpoint, JCD personnel seized 265 cartons of cigarettes pending payment of a JD265,000 fine.
