Curtain falls on Karak Cultural Days

AMMAN — A four-day programme of events to involve communities outside of the capital in the cultural scene will conclude in Karak on Sunday. 

Organised by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation’s (AHSF) Cultural Days, the events, which began on Thursday, included a wide array of activities ranging from book signings, lectures, book exhibits, theatre, film screenings, musical shows and children's activities. 

The aim of the event was to acquaint families with the importance of critical thinking in children's upbringing, according to AHSF's CEO Valentina Qussisiya. 

“Most families, either in Amman or outside the capital, do not pay attention to the importance of critical thinking because what they want is for their children to reach the information they seek,” she told The Jordan Times. 

Qussisiya said the event hopes  to involve Jordanians living outside the capital with cultural programmes.

“We worked hard to give the chance not only to the audience to watch activities, but for residents to organise and participate in such shows because culture is for everyone,” she added. 

The AHSF official said they have been holding similar activities outside Amman for three years now, including in Aqaba and Irbid. 

“We chose Karak this year because of its cultural significance, and because it is a way to engage with people in the southern city,” she added.
