AMMAN — The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the UNESCO office in Amman, launched the “Media 21” project for media and information education, aimed to draw citizens and social media users’ attention to digital content in times of misinformation.

The launching of the project, coincided with World Press Freedom Day 2021. It included a set of videos to raise awareness, in line with this year’s World Press Freedom Day theme “Information as a Public Good”, to be published on the ministry’s website and social media platforms, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Culture Minister Ali Al Ayed, in a statement, highlighted the importance of information as a public good, noting that Jordan was the first Arab country that approved a law to ensure the right to access information in 2007. He also emphasized the necessity of including media and information education in education systems and making them available for all segments of society, especially young people.
