AMMAN — A humanitarian assistance convoy carrying food and medical supplies left for Gaza on Wednesday to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians as an Israeli offensive on the coastal enclave continued.
HRH Crown Prince Hussein supervised the dispatch of the aid convoy and worked with several volunteers from the “Haqeq” (achieve) initiative, INJAZ and We are All Jordan Youth Commission in preparing food packages.
The Crown Prince’s participation is in line with his initiative to assist the people of Gaza and support the Jordanian field hospital there by providing it with additional medical supplies.
While meeting with volunteers working at the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), Crown Prince Hussein underscored the importance of their efforts, saying they stem from their understanding of their role and responsibilities towards their country and their Palestinian brothers.
He also took part in preparing the aid convoy that was dispatched to Gaza by the JHCO in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces and several public and private sector institutions.
The aid convoy is one of a series of convoys dispatched to Gaza within Jordan’s efforts to support the Palestinians and work towards ending the Israeli aggression on the strip.
JHCO Secretary General Ayman Mifleh said the aid convoy includes food and medical supplies to support Gazans and Jordan’s field hospital.
Also on Wednesday, five wounded Palestinians who were injured in Israeli raids on the strip arrived at King Hussein Medical Centre to receive treatment.
Several other injured Gazans are currently hospitalised at the centre after Crown Prince Hussein ordered the dispatch of ambulances to transfer them there due to their critical condition.
