Waiting area at KHCC to improve psychological well-being of children undergoing treatment

AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Wednesday inaugurated the “Heroes Cave” child waiting area at the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC), which was refurbished upon the Crown Prince’s request to provide a convenient and comforting environment for young patients at the centre.

Crown Prince Hussein toured the facilities of the "Heroes Cave", which can accommodate 70 children, and features a film theatre, a play area, and a range of entertainment options suitable for different age groups, a Royal Court statement said.

His Royal Highness was briefed by the head of paediatrics at the KHCC, Eyad Sultan, on the newly refurbished “Heroes Cave”, which could contribute to improving the psychological well-being of children visiting the centre’s clinics and undergoing treatment.

In May, the Crown Prince had issued directives to remodel the children’s waiting area at KHCC, as he joined a group of KHCC children to watch the premiere of “Aladdin”.

Established in 2001, KHCC handles 90 per cent of Jordan’s childhood cancer cases, with recovery rates in line with global standards, according to the statement.

Two floors at the KHCC have been designated for child patients, offering them psychological and comprehensive care programmes.
