Couple sentenced to 55 years in jail for fraud

AMMAN – The State Security Court (SSC) civil panel on Monday sentenced two defendants to 55 years and three months in jail, and a JD11,000 fine, in addition to the JD2 million they gained unlawfully through scams, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The defendants, husband and wife, were involved in various fraud cases by writing bad cheques.
The SSC also sentenced two defendants to 12 years in prison for involvement in a brokerage firm scam.
They are also required to pay back JD1.244 million they collected through the fake firm and a fine of JD600.
Meanwhile, four defendants were sentenced to three-year imprisonments for defrauding house guards in Amman out of their money.
