AMMAN — The “more open and contributing involvement of Jordanian youth in public life” conference, organised by the Youth Ministry in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), commenced on Monday.
Youth Minister Rami Wreikat said the conference aims to enable young people to work out solutions to their problems, highlighting the government’s interest in networking with international organisations concerned with youth, according to a ministry statement.
Italian Ambassador to Jordan Giovanni Brauzzi said the population structure of the Arab world, including Jordan, is characterised by high percentages of youth. Mariam Allam, head of an OECD regional project on youth in Jordan and Tunisia, said young Jordanians have little role in decision making.
