AMMAN — When Hind Al Juqqa arrived at the airport in Amman on Thursday and found out about a concert held in support for Gaza, she did not want to miss it and decided to attend despite her long flight.
“I wanted to come because I wanted to support Palestinians in Gaza. This is the least I can do for them,” she told The Jordan Times at Al Balad Theatre in downtown Amman last Thursday.
Juqqa was one of several Jordanians who attended the two-hour concert held by Al Balad Theatre on Thursday in cooperation with aspiring Jordanian musicians and musical groups.
Lubna Al Juqqa, Al Balad Theatre programme manager, said the event was held to raise funds for Gazans, who are facing an Israeli aggression that has killed over 1,600 people so far and wounded many others.
“A number of artists in Jordan decided to volunteer for the sake of Gaza,” she told The Jordan Times before the beginning of the event.
Sales of ticket, priced at JD5, and any donation provided by the audience will be delivered to Gazans through the Red Crescent in Palestine.
One of the artists who performed at the concert, Ihab Abu Hammad, said his band Sho Hal Ayyam performed a number of songs depicting the lifestyle in Palestine and the Palestinian resistance.
“These songs play an important role in bringing people closer to Palestine,” he added.
“This is the least we can do for Gaza.”
