Clean-up campaign launched in Mafraq

AMMAN — Environment Minister Taher Shakhshir on Tuesday launched a comprehensive clean-up campaign in Mafraq Governorate, which hosts large numbers of Syrian refugees.

At a meeting with Mafraq Mayor Ahmad Hawamdeh and municipal council members, Shakhshir said environmental conditions in Mafraq are not healthy due to the shortage of sanitation equipment, vehicles and personnel.

He added that the municipality will be provided with garbage containers, in addition to 50 sanitation workers on a temporary basis to dispose of the accumulating garbage.
