Civil Service Bureau honours excelling public sector employees

AMMAN — The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) on Monday honoured the winners of the Excellent Employee Award for 2016, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The award aims to encourage competitiveness among public sector employees and to improve the performance of ministries and public institutions.
Held under the patronage of Prime Minister Hani Mulki, the ceremony took place at the Royal Cultural Centre in the presence of several ministers.
Following the approval of the Council of Ministers and the placement of the Civil Service Council, 20 winners will be granted five annual increases as of December 31, 2017, according to the Article 35 of the Civil Service by-law.
CSB President Khalaf Hmeisat said that the award is a response to His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives to achieve a positive change in Jordanian administration capabilities through supporting excellence, innovation and competiveness.
For her part, ICT Minister Majd Shweikeh said that the 9th edition of the award came in line with the modern approaches related to civil service, which are based on rewarding or penalising public servants.
