Chilly weather forecast for weekend

AMMAN — People across the Kingdom are preparing for the cold weather forecast this weekend. 

On Friday, a cold air mass is expected to bring very cold, cloudy and rainy conditions to the north and central parts of the Kingdom, as well as in southern and eastern regions, according to a report by the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The report added that light snow is expected in the high mountainous areas in the south on Friday night.

The JMD warned of flood risks in the lowland areas, including the Dead Sea, in addition to strong winds and slippery roads.

“When the weather is cold, I stay tuned into the local forecast in order to be prepared,” Omar Mohammad, a Jordanian citizen, told The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

He added that he usually checks his home supplies when the weather is cold, and will have his heating system serviced before Friday.

“Weather forecasts give people several days of notice to get prepared,” said Ghadeer Sharif, another citizen. She added that she takes immediate precautions, in order to keep her family members safe and comfortable.
