CARE Jordan conducts capacity-building training to respond to gender-based violence

AMMAN — A capacity-building training programme was conducted over the last week by CARE Jordan to enhance gender-based violence (GBV) case management services for Jordanian governmental stakeholders that constitute a critical and life-saving primary entry point, for GBV survivors, to receive immediate and longer-term support.
Approximately 100 trainees participated in the Norwegian Development Agency supported training programme; 60 representatives from Ministry of Social Development, 20 staff from the Ministry of Education, and 16 staff from other key partners from NGOs and four staff from CARE’s case managers, from Amman, Irbid, Karak and Tafileh governorates, according to statement from CARE Jordan.
The training programme fully focused on GBV and gender equality issues in the Kingdom. CARE Jordan Country Director, Ammar Abu Zayyad,said: “The main purpose of this programme was to enhance protection and empowerment through the utilisation of the case management system for better gender-responsive, survivor-centred, child and victim-friendly handling of cases.”
“This includes knowledge of applicable laws and guidelines, case management and documentation, referral, and support for survivors to accesses other essential services and hands-on techniques and skills for effective investigation, prosecution, and adjudication," Abu Zayyad added.
