Cabinet approves validating reasons for draft accountability bylaw

By JT - Dec 22,2022 - Last updated at Dec 22,2022

AMMAN — The Cabinet, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, on Thursday approved the validating reasons for a draft accountability bylaw for heads and members of provincial and municipal councils for 2022.

The draft system will be sent to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete issuance procedures as per the law, while giving it urgent status, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The bylaw follows the issuance of the Local Administration Law No. 22 of 2021, which cancelled local councils and included provincial councils in the law in force.

Under the new regulation, duties, obligations and prohibitions of heads and members of provincial and municipal councils are set, as well as the procedures for violating this decision.
