AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, approved the bylaw of rights and benefits for military-insured persons in accordance with the 2024 Social Security Law.
The bylaw aims to ensure equal rights and benefits for military personnel covered by the Social Security Law and those subject to the Military Retirement Law, aligning them with the entitlements provided to members of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and security agencies, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
As part of the regulations implementing the Public Sector Modernisation Roadmap, the Cabinet also approved the 2024 Employee Recruitment Regulations for the public sector.
These regulations aim to streamline the hiring process in government institutions, ensure the recruitment of qualified and competent candidates, and establish a unified framework to prevent disparities in recruitment practices across government bodies, fostering equality and equal opportunities.
The Cabinet also decided to suspend its previous decision made on January 9, 2022, to reduce the 25 per cent customs duty on specific food items, engineering and construction sectors, and furniture. The suspension will take effect at the beginning of 2025 and will remain in place until the end of the year while maintaining the reductions implemented before 2022.
The Cabinet also approved a technical cooperation agreement with Germany. The agreement is part of the 1977 bilateral agreement between the two countries on technical cooperation and aims to support projects in several areas, including empowering women in vocational and green industries, supporting employment in the private sector through innovative methods, enhancing financial inclusion for micro, small, and medium enterprises in the Kingdom, and improving quality infrastructure for efficient water management.
