AMMAN — Budget-friendly and non-tourist cafes and coffee shops are allowed to serve shisha (water pipe tobacco) indoors during the winter season, while they are prohibited to serve anyone less than 18 years of the age, Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Chairman Khalil Haj Tawfiq said on Monday.
Haj Tawfiq said that an amended version of the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the authorised facilities to serve shisha was issued by the Ministry of Labour and approved by the Ministry of Health, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to the health protocols, the authorised facilities are required to sign a pledge that they will abide by all precautions, in accordance with the preventive measures issued by the Ministry of Labour, Haj Tawfiq noted.
The protocol also stipulated that all workers must be fully vaccinated against the virus, or have taken the first dose without missing the appointment for the second dose, or present a negative PCR test that is valid for 72 hours on Sunday and Thursday mornings each week, amongst other procedures, he added.
