AMMAN — The British Council has signed a new partnership with the German Jordanian University (GJU) for IELTS testing and registration. The signing ceremony took place recently, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of the British Council’s reach in Jordan and enhancing accessibility to IELTS candidates, particularly in Madaba, according to a statement to The Jordan Times.
This strategic partnership aligns with the British Council’s geo-expansion plans, aiming to serve IELTS candidates across Jordan and extend its presence to cater to the educational and professional needs of individuals in Madaba, the statement said.
The collaboration with GJU establishes the first official British Council IELTS Registration Centre and Test Venue in Madaba, bringing IELTS testing closer to the local community.
“We are delighted to partner with the German Jordanian University to create access to the world’s leading English proficiency test and related learner support for their students across the network. The IELTS test is one of the prerequisites for international opportunities in higher education and career progression. With the opening of the new test venues, students at the schools will have more convenience in terms of easy accessibility and a simplified registration process. The partnership is an important step that reflects the British Council’s commitment to continue supporting educational institutions in Jordan”, said Ameera Mannaa, director of Exams, MENA North, British Council.
“As the president of the German Jordanian University, I am thrilled to announce our new partnership with the British Council in Amman. This collaboration not only serves to enhance the educational experience of our students and employees but also promises a positive ripple effect within our local community. By establishing a test centre for IELTS exams at GJU, we are opening doors of opportunity and facilitating language proficiency for individuals aspiring to pursue global academic and professional endeavours,” said Ala’aldeen Halhouli, president, German Jordanian University.
This newly established IELTS venue in Madaba emphasises the British Council’s commitment to provide convenient and easily accessible testing locations. Candidates can now choose from multiple venues, ensuring that the testing process is streamlined and convenient. The candidates are to book tests starting from April 2024.
In addition to offering a variety of testing locations, the British Council continues to enhance the overall testing experience for candidates. Those taking IELTS at the new venue will have access to a range of online learner support resources available on the British Council website, facilitating their preparation ahead of the exams.
IELTS is the only English language test that is accepted by all the key immigration authorities and recognised by higher education institutions across the globe including in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Through IELTS, the British Council is opening a door to these life-changing opportunities for millions of aspiring people around the world.
