AMMAN — As part of its blended learning and behaviour change for local development project, through the European Union support project for civil society organisations, the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme (JBCP) recently concluded a three-day advocacy training course for a group of community activists in the Tafileh Governorate.

The training contributes to creating a platform for partnerships within the local community, and ensuring that civil society actions align with the national development plans that feed into the overall objective of the EU support project, which is enhancing the role of civil society in local development as well as supporting women’s participation in the development process, according to a JBCP statement.

The training was conducted in other governorates over the last three years to provide a supportive environment that helps the community follow healthy lifestyles; and ensure the right of women to access high quality screening tests for cancer across Jordan.

The project seeks tobuild the capacities of women toward acknowledging their rights in health.

It also seeks cancer prevention by attaining the right healthy behaviours including healthy eating and increasing physical activity, side by side with ensuring the presence of an enabling environment where equitable access to health and early detection services is ensured.

The JBCP is a national programme led and supported by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC).

It was established as a national programme that coordinates and leads breast cancer early detection efforts across Jordan, providing screening services to Jordanian women and raising public awareness about breast cancer.
