Bosnia and Herzegovina tourism delegation visits Jordan

AMMAN — Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin on Thursday met with a  delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina's ministry of environment and tourism, inbound tourism agencies and representatives of the USAID-funded Sustainable Tourism Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Turizam) project. 

The aim of the visit was to exchange expertise in tourism development, including marketing and preserving archaeological sites, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the visit, Hijazin emphasised Jordan's tourism advantages, such as religious, cultural, medical and adventure tourism, and highlighted the National Tourism Strategy 2021-2025, which focuses on five main areas: Product development, human resource development, marketing, heritage maintenance and management and reforms. 

Hijazin further noted that the tourism sector is the main contributor to the national economy and job creation, having generated JD4.1 billion (more than 13 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product) in revenue in 2022. 

He also noted that Jordan welcomed 5.1 million tourists in the same year. 

The Bosnian delegation commended Jordan's advanced infrastructure, natural atmosphere and tourist and archaeological sites, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
