AMMAN — Air defence systems intercepted and shot down three Iranian missiles targeting the Kingdom on Tuesday, while Border Guard units earlier intercepted five drones launched from Iran, according to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).
A military source said in a JAF statement that the missile interceptions caused no casualties or material damage.
Royal Engineering Corps teams secured the sites where missile debris fell in accordance with established procedures, the source said.
The statement said that the Armed Forces continue to safeguard Jordan's airspace and remain at full operational readiness to respond to any threat to the Kingdom's security and sovereignty.
In an earlier statement issued on Tuesday, a JAF source said Border Guard units intercepted five drones launched from Iran overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
The statement said that the drones were "successfully neutralised with precision in accordance with operational procedures and defensive protocols," adding that no casualties or property damage were reported.
The military source urged the public to remain reassured, stressing that the JAF continues to closely monitor the Kingdom's airspace while maintaining a high level of operational readiness.
The source added that the Armed Forces will take all necessary measures, in line with the applicable rules of engagement, to counter any aerial object that poses a threat to national security or the safety of citizens.
