AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) on Saturday bolstered Border Guard units at the Eastern Military Region by deploying a group of special and rapid reaction forces with the support of Royal Air Force aircraft.
The move comes as part of the General Command’s security plan to maintain the Kingdom’s borders security and stability to counter infiltration and smuggling, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, few days ago, issued directives to bolster the Border Guard units to firmly deal with any attempt to threaten the Kingdom's borders and its national security.
The JAF, in coordination with the security agencies and the Jordan Customs Department, recently foiled a number of infiltration and smuggling attempts of large amounts of arms and narcotics, Petra added
