AMMAN — Azeri Ambassador to Jordan Rasim Rzayev has lauded the Kingdom’s "optimal" response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The envoy, in an interview on the occasion of his country’s national day, highlighted the growing Jordanian-Azeri ties, highlighting Jordan’s foreign policies based on recognition of rights and respect of the sovereignty of states.

Lauding the "admirable" Hashemite leadership, Rzayev commended the Kingdom's achievements in the face of regional challenges, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.

The bilateral governmental committee will hold its fourth meeting in Baku to discuss removing barriers that hinder trade exchange and stimulating mutual investments while activating 40 agreements signed by the two countries, he added, noting that the two sides are working towards encouraging Azeri firms to invest in oil and gas exploration in Jordan.

The number of Jordanian tourists to Azerbaijan has grown over the past three years, Rzayev said, noting the opportunity for future expansion in this field.

Highlighting the role of His Majesty King Abdullah's visit to Azerbaijan late last year in enhancing bilateral coordination, the envoy pointed out that the visit focused on expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, tourism and defence industries, as well as increasing bilateral trade and building on signed agreements.

He also reiterated the common stances between the two countries, underlining that Jordan and Azerbaijan “see eye-to-eye” on the Palestinian cause and the necessity of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the two-state solution.
