Authorities continue crackdown on employers of illegal workers

AMMAN — Labour Minister Nidal Katamine on Monday said the government will not be lenient to institutions employing illegal Syrian workers.

Katamine noted that the ministry has closed 125 institutions over the past three days and warned a further 313 establishments for recruiting Syrians with no work permits.

The institutions in question will not be reopened for a minimum period of three months, calculated from the date they begin rectifying their status.

Since the launch of its inspection campaign in January, the ministry has closed around 1,330 institutions for recruiting illegal guest workers.
