AMMAN — A number of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) ambassadors toured Irbid on Tuesday to discuss enhancing the volume of trade and investment with the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Ambassador of Thailand Supark Prongthura, whose country is chairing ASEAN for the current session, said that Thailand and ASEAN member countries consider Jordan as a pivotal and important country at the various political, diplomatic and economic levels, lauding the “promising investment environment” in the governorate.
Highlighting Jordan’s stability and security for the investment environment, he commended the efforts of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce to facilitate investment procedures and provide necessary services to investors.
Although Jordan-ASEAN trade balance exceeded $1 billion, it does not represent “the reality” of the existing economic cooperation, he added
ASEAN member countries will encourage more mutual tourism between the two sides, the ambassador stated.
