AMMAN — The Southern Military Zone on Saturday foiled an attempt to infiltrate a drone across its western front, the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) said on Sunday. Border Guard forces detected the drone in coordination with military security agencies and applied rules of engagement, bringing it down inside Jordanian territory. The device was subsequently handed over to the competent authorities, JAF said. Also on Saturday, the Eastern Military Zone thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics transported using balloons guided by rudimentary devices, according to a military statement. The operation was carried out after the balloons were detected by Border Guard forces in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The payload was intercepted inside Jordanian territory and transferred to the relevant authorities for necessary procedures, the statement concluded.
