AMMAN — The Southern Military Zone on Tuesday morning foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs across the western border using a drone.

An official military source from the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that Border Guards in the Southern Military Zone, in cooperation with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, foiled a smuggling attempt by an unmanned drone attempting to cross the border illegally.

The source also said that the rules of engagement were applied, and the drone was neutralised within the Jordanian territory, adding that the seized items were handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.

The source stressed JAF’s unwavering commitment to utilising its full capabilities to combat any threats to the national security, particularly those involving modern smuggling techniques like drones.
