AMMAN — Air defense systems intercepted and shot down three ballistic missiles that entered the Kingdom’s airspace from Iranian territory at dawn on Wednesday, the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF) said.
A military source was quoted in a JAF statement as emphasising that Jordanian airspace is an integral part of the Kingdom's sovereignty.
The interception were carried out within approved operational and defensive measures to protect the country's borders, airspace, and citizens, the source said, adding that the incident resulted in no casualties or material damage.
The source said that Royal Engineering Corps teams dealt with the debris that fell in several locations according to established technical and security protocols.
The sites were secured, and necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of citizens and property, the source said.
The source stressed that the JAF rejects any violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty or the use of its airspace in a manner that threatens its security and stability.
He added that the JAF continue to monitor Jordanian airspace and track developments with the highest levels of readiness.
The military urged citizens to rely only on official statements issued by the JAF and competent authorities, and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified information.
