Army kills 2 infiltrators on Syria border

AMMAN — Border Guards on Thursday night killed two people who tried to illegally infiltrate into the Kingdom from Syria, a military official at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Friday.

The source said that the troops applied the rules of engagement followed in such cases, which led to killing of the infiltrators inside the Syrian lands, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also stressed that JAF would deal with any attempts to cross the border in any direction, and counter schemes to harm Jordan and Jordanians with the necessary force.

In recent remarks to the press, Border Guards Commander Brig. Gen. Saber Mahayrah said that troops on the borders with Syria foiled 280 attempts to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom in 2015, adding that 23 million narcotic pills, mostly Captagon, were also seized.
