AMMAN — Air defence systems intercepted and shot down eight Iranian missiles targeting the Kingdom's territory early Thursday morning, according to the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) – Arab Army.
A military source said in a JAF statement that the interception was carried out as part of approved defensive and operational measures aimed at safeguarding the Kingdom’s sovereignty, protecting its airspace and ensuring the safety of citizens.
The incidents resulted in no casualties or physical damage, according to the statement, which indicated that the Royal Military Engineering Corps have secured and cleared missile debris found at several sites.
The source stressed that JAF continue to monitor the Kingdom’s airspace at the highest level of readiness and will respond to any threat in line with the approved rules of engagement.
The source also urged the public to obtain information from official sources and refrain from circulating rumours or unverified reports.
