AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Sunday attended the launch of the 14th annual international Warrior Competition at the King Abdullah Special Operations Training Centre (KASOTC), with the participation of 38 teams representing 23 countries, and nine others taking part as observers.
KASOTC director-general said that the competition serves as a global platform for enhancing professionalism, readiness and cooperation among special operations forces, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.
He added that the event represents one of the leading arenas worldwide for excellence in special operations and counter-terrorism, highlighting that judging will be carried out by an international panel of experts with support from KASOTC’s training department to ensure fairness and accuracy.
The director noted that KASOTC continues to develop its training programmes by integrating modern technologies and realistic operational scenarios, positioning it as a global hub for special operations and counter-terrorism training.
The opening ceremony featured a series of events simulating real-world combat and hostage rescue scenarios, supported by the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
Participants also showcased the use of advanced jamming systems developed by the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) to neutralise remote detonation threats.
Ambassadors, military attachés, senior JAF officers, security officials and civilian figures attended the inauguration ceremony.
Established in 2009 under the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah, KASOTC serves as an international centre for training, cooperation and knowledge exchange in the fields of special operations, counter-terrorism and internal security.
